There's not much goin' on in Indiana produce-wise in January. You should see how ugly the veggies and fruits are! I do love my expensive avocados, though! Thanks for stopping by 2nd cup today. I appreciated the comment.

I'm in Indiana too, & like the commentor before me, I agree that our veggies look pretty sad in the store this time of year.

The newest thing I have tried was actually in a jar, roasted red bell peppers. Wow, they were good! I've roasted our own green peppers in the summer, but since it's winter, I splurged & bought a jar.
They were great on chicken sandwiches.

So glad you came by and visited The Picket Fence. I am in Florida and the veggies here are not looking so good, however we still have some fruits. Our oranges and grapefruits can usually produce fairly well here. I am so excited to have you as part of my blog world, I have needed a blogging-buddy who has great recipes. I will definitely be checking in on you.

Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday. I went and looked at your book on Amazon, and it looks helpful (and hilarious). I'll have to get a copy!

I'm in Georgia, and our produce isn't so hot right now, either. I'm jealous that you have so much in season! I'll have to stop by and see your recipes often - I'm an amateur cook/baker myself and am always looking for inspiration

2nd Cup of Coffee, I guess I need to count my blessings that avocados aren't that expensive in California! I love them, too.

Jane, thanks for the idea about trying roasted red bell peppers. I found some at the grocery store today and was delighted to see they weren't too expensive. I bought a jar and am excited to try them on sandwiches. Thank you for the inspiration. :)

Edwina, oranges and grapefruits -- yum! My grandma used to live in Florida and she'd send us a crate of grapefruits every Christmas. I didn't appreciate them much when I was a kid, but now I kinda miss 'em!

Edelweiss, thanks for your kind comments about my book. And I would guess you'd have pretty tasty fruits and nuts down in Georgia? My husband wants to plant a mini-orchard and is reading up on all the different varieties of what we can grow ;)
