Lavender Sugar
Experimenting here at the castle. I read about making lavender sugar in the most recent issue of Keepers at Home magazine. And since this lovely, lovely plant resides in our backyard,
I thought I would give it a try. You take 2 c. sugar, combine with 2 T. lavender blossoms, and let sit for a couple of weeks. Then you can either strain out the lavender, or put both the sugar and the blossoms in the blender to combine.
Article author Eileen D. Allen recommends using this in baked goods, notably sugar cookies.

Hello Lynn,
I haven't ever heard of lavender sugar. I think it would be nice though. You have so much lavender in your yard.
I hope you are having a nice summer and your garden is coming along.
Farm Girl, I hadn't heard of lavender sugar before, either. I looked up lavender in one of my cookbooks and there is a lovely custard-y sauce described that has lavender in it. Must give it a try! We are short on water this year so the garden is not as good as usual. How about you?
Yes Lynn, I have been such a water hoarder. Our front lawn is dead because we never increased the water on it. In my garden I am so stingy with the water just enough to keep things growing. The heat hasn't been too bad so I don't know what will happen when it does.
I have never seen it so dry before. It is kind of scary. Have a nice evening.
Hi Lynn!
I have seen so many recipes for Lavendar on Pinterest but I don't recall one for Lavendar Sugar.
Your lavendar is so beautiful this year. I had to start a new plant, though itty but beggining to bud, because I lost mine over this harsh Winter. We won't even discuss what else I lost.
I usually have Vanilla Sugar on hand so Lavendar Sugar sounds actually quite practical. I can't wait until I have enough buds:)
Thank you so much for sharing, Lynn. Can't wait to see how you make use of it:)
P.S. One of the girls that's coming to the Picnic is bringing Lavendar Lemon Cupcakes. I'm going to send her here when she posts it!
Hi Louise and I. Wilkerson! Those lavender lemon cupcakes sound outstanding; I will have to give them a try :) Thanks, Louise, for being such an astute blogger and connector.
Always with the generous words, Lynn...thank YOU:)
Hi Flo, Your lavender ice cream looks marveilleux! (I probably spelled that wrong, but you know what I mean :) ) Fun idea for using lavender.
I did make lavender ice cream one summer, and it was as good as homemade ice cream always is, if a little too gourmet for the grandchildren to appreciate. But my usual routine has been to harvest the flowers, dry them, and stick them in the freezer for use "soon." Then I never use them, and throw them out.
