Honey Mustard Dip

Sometimes it's the simplest food combinations that turn out to be the best.  Bananas with peanut butter. Bagels and cream cheese.  Onion dip with . . . just about anything.

This recipe is just such a find.  A simple mayonnaise/honey/Dijon mustard combination, this makes a tangy, surprisingly addictive dip for pretzels.  Or raw veggies.  The perfect snack to munch on while you cheer for your favorite football team.

1 c. mayonnaise (regular or no-fat)
1/4 c. Dijon mustard
1/4 c. honey
1 t. horseradish
1/2 t. dry mustard powder
1/4 t. garlic powder

Combine all ingredients and enjoy with pretzels or raw veggies.

Oooh, this reminds me of a honey mustard dip I used to make when I was younger than involved plain yogurt. Man, just reading your recipe made my mouth water. I must make some! But that means I need to make pretzels too. ;)

I have to tell you - Farm Girl, my mother in law, gave me your book in December and I just started it this week and I love it so much I'm having a hard time not reading ahead! I can wait til next week. :D

Meg, your recipe with plain yogurt sounds good, too, and healthy(ish). And I'm so glad you're enjoying the book! You have my permission to read ahead :)

Hi Lynn~

I love honey and mustard together, one of my favorite combination's! I can't wait to try your recipe with the horseradish, and the garlic! I can think of so many things I want to try this with! I'll bet it would be good on chicken or fish, slathered on a turkey sandwich, or whisked with a little olive oil and drizzled on a salad. Thanks for sharing!

Barb, I love your ideas for how to use this. I'll bet you're right, mixed with some olive oil it would probably be wonderful on salad.

It sounds so yummy, I think I would like it with chicken. :) I never got back to you on your question, my son, it is Anthony. :) That morning I sat down to write you a reply, I could not spell his middle name. I finally gave up because I felt so idiotic. I am glad I could spell it now.
