Blackberry Syrup
Our summer here in northern California has been cool, which makes for a paltry tomato crop but a very, very happy bunch of blackberries.
I've picked so many berries for the freezer this year that I've run out of containers. Which means I was enormously pleased to come across this recipe for berry syrup from Jenn at Pint-sized Pioneering.
If you have just three cups of berries, some sugar, and a bit of water, you can make a jar of delicious syrup. So far I've made three batches (that's two batches, above).
Now if only I can find more room in the freezer . . .
Anyone else finding interesting things to do with excess fruit this time of year?

It looks yummy, my berries are finished and I just froze them, but next year, I will make syrup.
I've been making serious amounts of pies! Oh but this syrup looks divine!

Do you ship to TX? :) because if you did, I could help you do something with all the excess of berries you have!
I love blackberries. I've been freezing them for smoothies.
We've had a peach abundance this year - Made peach jam/sauce, peach butter, froze peaches, and made peach cobbler.
I think I'm done.
The syrup sounds great! I bet it's great with so many different things!

I get a lot of blackberries in my garden here in England. I hate the horrible thorns they grow on though... ouch!
Love it that you made your own syrup out of them, wonderful idea!

I'd much rather have blackberries over tomatoes any day! :) Can't wait to see what else you do with them.

I wonder how this would work with agave instead of the sugar? Blackberries are one of my most favorite berries!
Beautiful! I wish I had some for yesterdays pancakes! - Megan
I'm sobbing, because those blackberries, about that size container, are nearly $5 here. And you know what, there's no taste, and I have nothing to compare that to. I'll take your word(s) that blackberries are "yummy".
